These cases are categorized as hard but they seem more like a hybrid to us. The case is covered in a very durable, water resistant nylon. Inside this covering are rigid pieces that protect the AR15 like steel.

Rating Great soft/hard case. I got the one without the precut foam. It wasn't a major issue cutting the foam to fit my 16" AR however it would have been nice to have the pick n pull type foam to make it easier. This size fit my 16" AR, six magazines, 1 full size pistol + 4 mags, the 1-4x24 scope and a small cleaning kit. This is enough to take to a range and keep me occupied for a little while!
