These cases are categorized as hard but they seem more like a hybrid to us. The case is covered in a very durable, water resistant nylon. Inside this covering are rigid pieces that protect the AR15 like steel.

Rating It's not a bad case for the money. It holds three thirty round magazines with ranger loops and a 100 round plastic ammo box (4 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 2 1/2") snugly. There was plenty of room to cut out a spot for a cleaning kit and and still enough room for a one piece cleaning rod and a scope. Trimming maybe required if you have a bayonet lug and make sure the sling swivel is folded up otherwise the foam may get tore. I use it a couple of times a month and have been fairly pleased with it. Not for Rigid Stock M4 Review by James E. Carr
Rating I purchased the AR-15 version of this item for my Colt 6400c M4, which has a rigid rather than collapsible stock. Cut out evidently was made for a collapsible stock AR-1, and there is insufficient room between back of cutout and edge of case to extend to rigid stock sizing. Other than that, case appears well made and definite protector for your gun. (Posted on 1/26/10)
